The greatest period of parish development was during the pastorate of Fr. Patrick J. Carroll (1887-1912) First he built St. Mary's Academy which opened in the fall of 1894. The school was staffed by the Franciscan Sisters of Clinton. Next he built the rectory on Oswego Street, and in 1900 the present St. Patrick's Church.
In July of 1998, St. Patrick's in Tama and St. Boniface in Garwin became linked. Fr. Birch was named as pastor of both parishes. This began another procees in the area called clustering. The four parishes St. Michael, Belle Plaine; St. Jospeh, Chelsea; St Boniface, Garwin; and St. Patrick, Tama were being refered as the Circle of Saints.St. Patrick's Parish Community continues to grow as a place of word, worship and action.
